Before you start your coaching, you’re sure to have a number of questions about the journey you will soon undertake. Here are some frequently asked questions to help you understand it all.
What is a life coach?
Just like a fitness coach is there to help you reach your fitness goals, a life coach helps you reach your life goals. You decide on the goal you want to achieve, and your life coach will sit with you to plot your “map” to reach your destination. Your life coach will then guide you through each step of your journey until you reach your goal.
Do I need a life coach?
To help yourself figure out the answer, ask yourself these questions:
- Do I have a goal that I want to achieve but I am not sure how to achieve it?
- Do I need to make a big change in my life and can’t quite figure out how to make the change?
- Do I need a neutral person to listen to my ideas and keep me on track to roll them out?
- Do my goals seem so big that they seem to be totally out of my reach? Will it help to have someone to help me unpack these goals and re-pack them into “baby steps”?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions above, then you will benefit from having a life coach.
If you are willing to work with a life coach to figure out the journey you need to take to reach your goals, then life coaching is for you. Everyone needs a life coach to some extent. However, not everyone will see the value in having a life coach. This is a very personal journey, and the only way to figure it out is to give it a try.
What type of people will you coach?
I will coach anyone who has a passion to discover their inner magic, find their purpose and get clarity on where they’re headed. Change can be exciting, but extremely challenging at the same time and requires dedication, commitment, and tenacity. If you are ready to take on this challenge, then I am here to coach you through the process.
Is a life coach the same as a therapist?
No. Although they do share some similarities, a therapist usually focusses on past events and situations to figure out current behaviours. Your life coach focusses on your current situation versus your desired outcome, and helps you figure out how to get to where you want to be.
What is NLP and timeline therapy?
NLP is “The study of subjective experience”.
N = Neuro (the nervous system – the mind – and sensory organs which we receive & filter information.)
L = Linguistic (The way we communicate and interpret experience through language, images, sounds, feelings, taste, words and body language.)
P = Programming (The way we construct personal “programmes” of thought, communication and behaviour, typically based on past experience, social circumstances and our beliefs.)
The heart of NLP is modelling successful behaviour.
Timeline therapy is one NLP technique used to neutralise the impact that a traumatic event has on our future decisions.
