About Me

So now that you are here on my web page, I am sure you want to know a little bit about me.  To find out why I have decided to create this site, have a look at I am my own happy pill.

My name is Carolyn Melnick, better known as Caro (or Crazy Caro).  My claim to fame is nothing extraordinary.  I am a mom, a wife and an employee.  My life revolves around making sure that my kids get what they need and trying not to neglect my husband too much (which is no mean achievement given the crazy job that I have and the amount of travelling I do).

I have four sons and a step daughter, ranging from 10 to 26 in age – all at different stages in life with different needs and varying degrees of independence.  This tends to keep me both entertained and busy at the same time.  My husband is not the father of my four boys, but he is an absolute gem.  I am reminded every day of how blessed I am to have him in my life.  He has embraced us and accepted the boys as if they were his own children.

My life has not always been sunshine and roses.  I was born in what was then called Rhodesia, my parents lost everything during the civil war and moved to South Africa, which is where I grew up and am still living.  My parents divorced while I was still very young.  In fact, I don’t remember ever living with my parents being in the same house.

I am now 45 years old and have many stories to tell.  I love life, music, running, photography, reading books (historical novels are my absolute favourite), nature (especially the ocean), and most of all, I love my family.  I am extremely curious about what makes people tick, so I read a lot about human behaviour and nature.

Over time, after reading my stories, you will get to know me better.  But never forget, I am nothing special – I am just like you.  I face up to difficulties regularly, but I choose to figure it out and always be grateful for what I have.

I truly believe that I am my own happy pill.
